Valerie Khayat’s haunting vocals appear on three cuts on To Call out in the Night, one of which (Swells) was also written by her. Born in Montreal, Valerie is a performing poet/singer-songwriter with a background in Communication & Philosophy. She is currently a graduate student in Media Studies at Concordia University. Khayat has been an active presence in the artistic community since 2004, taking part in events that range from folk to poetry/spoken word, many with connections to non-profit and grassroots organizations. Over the last years she has focused more and more on combining her passions for media education and art, convinced that together they hold the greatest potential to inform and empower individuals through critical thought. In 2007 she released her first book of poetry, The Road to Vesper, and her first full-length CD Resonance in blue.
